Oaxaca, I thank you plenty.
It was easy to create in a place where my creativity didn’t feel forced. My inspiration for how I wanted to capture my collection particularly this dress came from the women in Colombia. Ideally, I wanted to shoot this collection in Cartagena but after hours of research and my familiarity with Mexican culture I settled for what my pockets could afford, but also somewhere that looked similar to Cartagena.
I was torn between Guanajuato, Puebla and other parts of Mexico but Oaxaca was the place to be. Shooting my pieces Oaxaca, Mexico was a dream come true. I specifically chose Oaxaca because was drawn to the colors, textures, artisans and the indigenous culture of this city. I could tell that the environment was one where my clothing would thrive. It was a beautiful union between my clothing and the city of Oaxaca.
